Tis the season of bugling bulls and head-to-head combat. Bull elk annually put on shows of dominance in a quest to secure more cows to add to their harems.
Elk hunters and others who hunt or hike wild landscapes know about the rut. They also know to stay back during such showdowns.
Unfortunately, that is often not the case for many tourists in Yellowstone National Park whose only exposure to animals is on television or Internet videos.
The latest instance making the viral rounds shows way too many people way to close to two elk in Yellowstone. One of the bulls leaves the duel only to force a man to the ground. Wildlife officials want to remind everyone to keep their distance from wild animals.
