The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for illegally killing an elk in southeast Kentucky. More specifically, it happened in the Big Creek/Browns Fork Strip Mine area near the Buffalo Mountain Tower in Hazard.
A hunter discovered the carcass on September 28, 2021. Someone removed the animal’s head and left the meat to waste.
