Kentucky is home to the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi. And word is more than getting out.
Kentucky received a record number of 79,768 applications for its 2018 elk hunt. Interested hunters put in for the draw from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii.
The names of those selected for the quota hunts will be first revealed at a special event set for noon (Eastern time), May 15, at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.
