Imagine walking around with a section of rope tied around your head and dragging some five feet behind you. That is exactly what a bull elk in the central Arizona community of Payson was dealing with.
A report in the Payson Roundup indicates the bull had broken and deformed antlers from its attempts to remove a rope from its neck and antlers.
Two wildlife workers with the Arizona Game and Fish Department answered a call for assistance. They tranquilized the elk, removed the rope and then tagged it for future reference.
Shortly thereafter, it got to its feet, wandered off and resumed feeding.
