Elk NetworkApplication Period Opens for 2025 Oklahoma Controlled Hunts

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation’s controlled hunts application period is open. Hunters seeking elk, deer, pronghorn antelope and turkey can apply until the May 20 deadline.

New for 2025, hopeful hunters will be able to buy one extra preference point to add to their totals for each hunt category. This feature expands on the option added last year, as it was only available in the elk and pronghorn hunt categories. Another option is the ability to add more hunt choices above the standard number allowed in each category. These add-on choices cost $3 each, and there is no limit to the number of hunt choices added.

Since 1995, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and its partners completed 93 conservation and hunting heritage outreach projects in Oklahoma with a combined value of more than $1.3 million. These projects enhanced 109,609 acres of habitat.
