- A person who performs a service willingly and without pay.
Volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation certainly embody the most worthy title of “volunteer.” Here are two such examples.
The picture you see above is of Joe Cohenour (maroon shirt in center), chair of the Elkhorn Chapter in Helena, Montana, receiving a check from two people who work at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBS-MT). Don Cox is on Cohenour’s left and Jes Eriksen is on his right. Both of them are RMEF members and volunteers. Cox is among RMEF’s earliest of members. He got on board back in 1985. Eriksen joined RMEF four years ago after attending the Montana State Rendezvous in Twin Bridges.
BCBS-MT recognizes volunteerism by paying its employees $20 per hour of volunteer work. And the company pays out at the end of the year. Both Don and Jes maxed out their hours and received the maximum donation and that amount was donated to RMEF.
Thank you BCBS-MT, Jes and Don for your contributions in behalf of elk and elk country.
By the way, the Elkhorn Chapter will hold its 2018 Big Game Banquet on June 9 in Helena.
