Yes, there are elk in Kansas. Not only that, but there is also a season to hunt them.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism recently approved dates and quotas for the 2018-2019 elk hunt.

- Firearm (Statewide, except Fort Riley, Subunit 2a and Unit 1): Aug. 1-31, 2018; Nov. 28-Dec. 9, 2018; and Jan. 1-March 15, 2019
- Muzzleloader (Statewide except Fort Riley, Subunit 2a and Unit 1): Sept. 1-30, 2018

- Archery (Fort Riley, Subunit 2a): Sept. 1-30, 2018
