Sometimes you just never know what you’ll find when you’re out in the wild. Davin Thompson knows that to be true.
According to KFVS-TV, Davin and his father were hunting mushrooms near Van Buren in the southeastern part of the state when he came across an elk skull with massive antlers attached to it. The 7 x 6 rack is reported to span 347 inches. A game warden donated an elk tag so the family can get it mounted.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation worked with the Missouri Department of Conservation to successfully reestablish elk onto their historic Missouri range beginning in 2011.
