An Idaho hunter survived an encounter with a black bear after the two tumbled down a hill together.
Marvin Jennings of Boise and his uncle hunted over a bear site in southwest Idaho. Jennings shot a bear, waited a short period of time and then approached. The bear charged and knocked him to the ground as they both tumbled down a hill. It bit him a number of times on the left arm and leg before Jennings dispatched it with a handgun.
A helicopter transported Jennings to a Boise hospital where doctors performed surgery.
“He’s the bravest man I’ve ever known,” Jamie Jennings, Marvin’s wife, told KTVB-TV.
