An 18-year-old Oklahoma State University freshman recently rushed home from his after-school job, grabbed his bow and headed to a treestand on the family property, where trail cameras previously captured evidence of a nice whitetail buck for at least a couple of years.
“I wasn’t going to go, but my friends said, ‘You know he’s going to be out there when you’re not there’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s it, I’m going,’ ” Womack told the Tulsa World. “I’m glad I did.”
Womack only had one broadhead in his quiver but it hit the target. He shot an 8×8 buck that will not only fill the family freezer but will most likely top the Oklahoma record books and may rank nationally as well. It has a gross measurement of 209 4/8 inches.
