‘Oh what fun it is to ride…”
The sleigh season is set to begin at the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming. It offers the opportunity for onlookers to see elk in a more intimate, close-up kind of way.
The rides last about an hour and, depending on the weather and ground conditions, take place via a sleigh or wagon. Sleigh rides run daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily including holidays and weekends, except for Christmas Day, from December 15 through April 6.

Elk, bighorn sheep and other wildlife often approach vehicles and lick them in order to ingest salts. Biologists encourage drivers to not stop but to continue driving slowly as allowing wildlife to do so may lead them to consume harmful chemicals. Such salt-licking behavior may also cause wildlife to gather on roadways which can lead to deadly vehicle-wildlife collisions.
