Remington Tops $150K for Elk Foundation Habitat Work
MISSOULA, Mont.—Through donations tied to sales of commemorative rifles, Remington has passed the $150,000 mark in support for the habitat work of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
For 2009, Remington has pledged additional conservation funding with a new addition to its commemorative rifle series—a limited edition bolt-action chambered in 30-06 Sprg and based on the XCR™ (Xtreme Conditions Rifle) Model 700 platform. The gun has a camouflage finish and an RMEF logo engraved on the floorplate.
Remington earmarks a portion of each sale as a contribution to the Elk Foundation.
“This licensing partnership, now in its ninth year, is continuing to produce solid results in elk country. Stewardship and protection of habitat, opening lands for public access, reintroducing elk to parts of their historical range and all the great things we’ve accomplished are due in no small part to corporate partners like Remington,” said David Allen, Elk Foundation president and CEO.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2009, the Elk Foundation has topped 5.4 million acres conserved or enhanced for elk and other wildlife.
Remington’s Model 700 XCR platform features a multilayer TriNyte™ Corrosion Control System. This patented process starts with a solid stainless steel barreled action that is plated with electroless nickel and a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. The resulting barrier provides abrasion resistance and virtual elimination of corrosion. Next the barreled action is fit into a synthetic stock with solid-grip, gray overmold on the fore-end and pistol-grip, and camouflaged with Realtree® AP HD®.
The rifle also features Remington’s new X-Mark Pro™ Adjustable trigger. The design allows for consistent 3½-pound trigger pulls set directly from the factory, plus external adjustments within a range of 2 pounds (3 to 5 pounds) with the included tool. Other features include a 24-inch hammer-forged clean barrel, receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts, hinged floorplate and four-round magazine capacity, sling swivel studs and Remington SuperCell™ Recoil Pad.
Previous offerings in the commemorative RMEF series include the Model 700 BDL™ SS Camo in 300 Remington Ultra Mag, 7mm Remington Ultra Mag, 300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag and 300 Win Mag, and the Model 700 XCR Camo in 7mm Remington Mag, 300 WSM, 300 Remington Ultra Mag and 7mm Remington Ultra Mag.
Remington also supports the Elk Foundation in many ways beyond the rifle series, making it one of the conservation group’s most valuable and longest-running corporate partners.
